Me

By now my homepage will have helped you figure out I'm not a hulking Swedish guy, despite the name. As my twitter profile testifies I'm half Norfolk dumpling, half Nordic wench, but perhaps disappointingly speak no Icelandic and boast few overly itchy jumpers.

After I graduated from Cambridge in 2007, I moved into radio and have presented thousands of hours of live programmes across the schedule from Early Breakfast to Evenings, as well as prerecorded documentaries and live reporting covering news, lifestyle and entertainment. Highlights include interviews with Alan Bennett, Brian Blessed and Honor Blackman. Currently Monday to Thursday you'll find me on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, usually around 6pm interviewing fascinating local people and showcasing local talent.

Above all else (apart from perhaps my dog!) my main passion in life is plants. My first proper radio job saw me answering the phones on BBC Radio Norfolk’s Garden Party - a two hour phone-in show. At the time, my knowledge of all things horticultural was thin on the ground. But it didn’t take long for the gardening bug to bite. I went onto present the show for eight years, with the inimitable Alan Gray of East Ruston Old Vicarage at my side. At the same time we set up a gardening YouTube channel to share knowledge and spread the passion for plants. So far Get Gardening has helped over a million people to prune their Roses, divide their Irises and develop a greater understanding of the plants they grow.

When the pandemic hit, the world of radio changed quite a lot. Finding myself no longer working with Alan, I missed out massively on our weekly planty chats. So we decided to start a podcast devoted to plants. Talking Dirty now boasts both video and audio versions and full plant lists to accompany each episode - this is a podcast that takes its plants very seriously; as do the guests. From Val Bourne to Charles Dowding, Ben Preston to Jimi Blake to Bunny Guinness - the list of top gardeners sharing their top plants each week grows ever more exciting.

When not radioing, podcasting or gardening, I’m normally to be found walking my dog, driving my Morris Minor, or avidly knitting fairisle.

I dream of a bigger plot, a greenhouse and a cutting garden.
